Asha Jaiprakash joined St. Albert’s College (Autonomous), Ernakulam in July 2015 as Assistant Professor in the Department of Zoology. She completed undergraduate studies in Zoology in 1985 from Mar Ivanios College, Trivandrum and went on to do her MSc in 1987. She bagged the 2 nd rank in the Kerala University for the MSc Examination. She procured a B.Ed Degree from Annamalai University and an M Phil Degree from Kerala University. Her teaching career started with the St Mary’s Residential Central School group. During assignment as Guest Lecturer in Government Vocational Higher Secondary School, Trivandrum, she imparted knowledge to differently abled students. Subsequently, she accepted an offer to teach in the Indian School Salalah, Oman. She has a total teaching experience spanning around two decades. At St. Albert’s, she handles complementary papers in Zoology for the first and second Year UG Industrial Fisheries students and also guides them in their practical sessions. Apart from this, she facilitates classes for MSc Zoology. Securing a PG Diploma in Counselling and Psychotherapy in 2018, approved by IAAP, has enabled her to have a deeper insight into the various psychological difficulties faced by students from different walks of life. This awareness has made her understand better the connection between a person’s psyche and his conduct and behaviour. An independent person by nature, cultivating vegetables and stitching gives her immense self satisfaction. In the midst of her busy schedule she accommodates time to satisfy her innate passion for painting.
