Dr.Philomina Joseph joined as Assistant professor (Guest) in Department of Zoology, St.Albert’s college in November 2020.She pursued her doctoral degree from Cochin University of Science and technology. Her field of research is on biodiversity, taxonomy, ecology and toxicology on aquatic fauna in wetlands especially on mangrove ecosystem. She has a research experience of 8 years. Her keen interest in biodiversity of marine fauna could contribute new species of crustacean (named in honour of CUSAT as Victoriopisa cusatensis) and molluscs during her research period along with collection of various bioinvasive species. She has undertaken extensive field works in different mangrove habitats especially in world’s largest mangrove forest, Sunderbans and along the entire Kerala coast and gained knowledge on handling various laboratory and field activities. She worked in various projects as project Associate, funded by MOEF&CC,Govt.of India on compiling a checklist of meiofauna  of India  and an extensive mangrove project funded by DOECC,Govt. of Kerala. She has  11 publications  in  intemational peer reviewed journals of repute, three in national peer reviewed journals, 4 book chapters and also co-authored a book ‘Manual on Mangroves’. She has also participated and presented research findings in national and international conferences and meetings.She is a member in Mangrove society of India
