Dr. Sweetha Saji joined the Department of English, St Albert’s College (Autonomous), Ernakulam as Assistant Professor in 2021. As a University rank holder for both BA and MA in English, she seeks to share her passion for the subject to her students. She completed her BA from BCM College, Kottayam, and MA from SB College, Changanassery. Upon clearing the UGC National Eligibility Test, she joined as a PhD Research Scholar in the Department of Humanities and Social Sciences, National Institute of Technology, Trichy. Her research concentrates on Graphic Medicine and Medical Humanities. Her doctoral thesis is on the representation of mental illness in popular culture and personal narratives. She has published over ten research articles in SCI and Scopus indexed journals including Sage, Routledge (Taylor & Francis), and Perspectives in Biology and Medicine by Johns Hopkins University Press. She has also presented her research papers in various National and International Conferences. Her most recent book is Metaphors of Mental Illness in Graphic Medicine published by Routledge, New York.

Currently, she is mentoring the BA English 2021-2024 Batch and serves as the Staff Coordinator for Arts and Social Outreach. Her areas of interest include Life Writing, Literary Theory and Criticism, Cultural Studies, and Subaltern Studies.
